Happiness Report says it is better to be social than on social media

The 2026 edition of the World Happiness Report has stated that in North America and Western Europe, young people are less happy than they were in the past decade, and that social media use has significantly increased. The report suggests that heavy social media usage is contributing to a decrease in well-being among young people in English-speaking countries and Eastern Europe, particularly among girls. The study also revealed that Finland leads the world in happiness for a record ninth consecutive year, with an average score of 7.764. The rankings also included a ranking of the world's happiest countries.
