AI Cameras In This State Are Busting Drivers Who Pick Up Their Phones In Work Zones

The number of accidents occurring in active work zones can cause traffic to slow down, causing delays and potentially fatal injuries. The CDC reported that there were around 96,000 crashes in these areas in 2022, resulting in around 37,000 injuries and 891 fatalities. As of 2026, 33 states have enacted "no touch" laws, which ban drivers from holding their phones while driving, this includes changing map settings, tapping to answer your phone, and even picking it up at a red light. In order to enforce these laws, Arkansas has set up still cameras in two work zones on Interstates 49 and 57 to catch violators.
