Despite maintaining her innocence for a full year before pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, Shah was initially sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and is now serving the remainder of it in home confinement. She credits her involvement to a breakdown in her marriage and several deaths in her family for her "clouded judgment".
