President Donald Trump has proposed a $1.5 trillion budget for the Pentagon for fiscal year 2027, which would be the largest military budget in U.S. history. The money combines Pentagon spending with nuclear weapons spending under the Energy Department. The proposal includes increases for building a "Golden Dome" US missile defense system, increased pay for troops, and additional funds for shipbuilding and artificial intelligence. Separately, the White House is expected to request an additional $80 billion for the Iran war.
