Former Ohio substitute teacher makes first appearance in front of hometown crowd

Award Blubaugh, a 25-year-old professional baseball player, made his debut at Progressive Field in his hometown of Mansfield, Ohio, on Monday night. He pitched a scoreless inning against the Guardians, his childhood team. The crowd was largely comprised of family, friends, and a group of 150 students from the Clear Fork School District where he previously worked as a substitute teacher. Blobaugh fondly recalled his first visit to the ballpark as a fan and said it felt like his debut.
