House Republican leader Blake Moore loses convention, advances to primary, as GOP challenger attacks his support for redistricting law

Utah Rep. Blake Moore, the fifth-ranked Republican in the US House of Representatives, lost a party nomination vote among precinct delegates but will continue to a primary election in June. His challenger, state Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, targeted Moore's support for a redistricting commission and dismissed his leadership positions as Congress continues to oversee a soaring national debt. Moore had already qualified for the primary ballot by submitting over 7,000 verified voter signatures. His reelection campaign has become a referendum on Utah’s new court-ordered congressional district map, which some state lawmakers have expressed dissatisfaction over. Moore’ involvement with the redistricting law could potentially have negative implications for his leadership roles.
