Kathmandu empties as around 800,000 Nepalis head home to vote

Around 800,000 people from around the world are voting in the upcoming election, with around 19 million people expected to vote. The election will be held to select 275 members of parliament, with 165 elected through first-past-the-post voting and the rest through proportional representation. The country has also declared public holidays for the election and the upcoming Fada.
