The Federal Department of Transportation (FAA) is seeking gamers to become air-traffic controllers in an effort to increase its workforce by nearly 9,000 more by 2028. The hiring comes after the tragic crash of an Air Canada flight into a firetruck at LaGuardia that killed the pilots. The Department of Transport has released a video appealing to gamers, stating that the job is a career, with average salaries of up to $155,000 by the third year on the job. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy praised the campaign's innovative communication style and focus on gaming as a key recruitment tool. The FAA plans to introduce 8,900 new ATCs by the end of fiscal year 2028, with 2,000 in 2025, and 2,200 in 2026, 2,300 in 2027, and an additional 4,000 trainees expected to follow.
