The Elyria Police Department has launched an Autism Response Program to help families share critical information with the department. This information can be accessed during emergency calls. The program is particularly useful in situations like elopement, where someone leaves home without permission, and helps officers understand how to approach and resolve the situation. An event will be held at the West Recreation Department on April 18 to allow families to meet with police.
