Raging wildfire in Spokane, Washington, destroyed thousands of homes and forced thousands of residents to evacuate during one of the worst fire disasters in the city's history. The Old Trails Fire, which ignited near Old Trails Road and Euclid Avenue before jumping the Spokane River and moving into northwest Spokane, quickly spread to 3,509 acres and remained 0% contained. The National Weather Service issued Washington's first-ever Red Flag Warning for Eastern Washington, citing high winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation as conditions for explosive wildfire growth. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
