Hundreds of Serbian students and police clashed during a protest against a police search of University of Belgrade offices in Belgrade, following an accidental death of a student last week. The police used truncheons to disperse demonstrators, who were chanting "dogs" and "traitors". The incident sparked tensions between authorities and anti-government activists, which have been ongoing for over a year. University Rector Vladan Djokic accused police of entering the building without a valid legal explanation and seizing computers. The director of the Serbian police, Dragan Vasiljevic, said the officers were acting on a court order when they entered the university's offices to obtain evidence related to the student's death. Anti-government protests have been held across Serbia since December 2024, with accusations of corruption and violence by the president and his allies.
