Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) are urging the Energy Information Administration (EIA) to collect "comprehensive, annual energy-use disclosures" on data centers. The EIA has announced that it is launching a pilot program to evaluate data center energy use, but this is voluntary and appears to be aimed at broader reporting of data center usage. This comes amidst a growing push for transparency about the impact data centers are having on electricity costs.
