The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that a prolonged crisis in the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a global agrifood catastrophe. This could disrupt fertiliser and energy exports, drive up food prices and strain crop yields. The FAO's Chief Economist, Maximo ‘Torero, said that poorer countries are at risk due to delays in access to key inputs.
