Costello van Steenis ended Fabian Edwards' world title dream by stopping him in the third round to retain his PFL middleweight title in Madrid. This was Edwards' third attempt to win a world title after previous defeats in 2023 and 2024. The win was made particularly sweet by Van Steen's home fans in the largest MMA event to take place in Spain. The event was watched by sports stars including Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham, Thibaut Courtois and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
