The Livingston Health Department is offering a free Blood Pressure Screening for residents on April 29 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center. High blood pressure, known as "the silent killer," can significantly increase the risk of developing heart disease or stroke. The department will also offer a free Stroke Risk Assessment Screening on May 7 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Livingstone Health Center. The screening will test blood pressure and cholesterol, and will also include a brief nursing consultation. Lifestyle changes such as increased physical activity, healthier eating, and efforts to control high blood pressure can help decrease stroke risk. The presentation on hearing loss will be held on May 11 at the Stamford Senior/community Center.
