Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker is leading the team's defensive overhaul after a poor defense last season, with the team allowing 355.1 yards and 27.5 points per game last year. The Cowboys' vice president of player personnel, Will McClay, believes Parker's influence influenced the selection of players such as Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence. The team also landed five of their seven draft picks, five of which came from Parker. This transformation has been made by the Cowboys, who added safeties Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke, cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick, defensive linemen Jonathan Bullard and Otito Ogbonnia, and Sam Williams. This offseason, the team also added defensive players in free agency, including defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and defensive lineman LT Overton. The makeover is complete, although executive VP Stephen Jones said the team will continue to look for help.
