Why Movie Stars Can’t Resist an Award Show About Particle Physics

The annual Breakthrough Prize awards show, held annually at Santa Monica's Barker Hangar, attracts A-list celebrities such as James Corden, Anne Hathaway, Margot Robbie, Ben Affleck, Robert Downey Jr., Sean Penn, Gigi Hadid and Jessica Chastain. Some believe the celebrity attendance may be due to free rides on Russian-born billionaire's superyacht, the vessel owned by Yuri Milner, who founded the event in 2012 and has been bankrolling it since. However, a spokesperson for the event denies that ocean voyages have anything to do with the stellar attendance.
