Astronomers have discovered the "breath of the solar system" in a new X-ray image, showing the phenomenon known as "solar wind charge exchange". This phenomenon was observed by the eROSITA space telescope, allowing scientists to create a map of the sky in soft X-rays. This map was created using data from the spacecraft, which is currently located at a gravitationally stable point between the sun and Earth. The team also identified significant local radiation component in the map, allowing them to reconstruct an unaltered image of the emissions from deep space and also obtain valuable information on the solar wind emitted in all directions. The research suggests that solar wind follows the fluctuation of solar cycle, weakening during periods of minimum activity and intensifying during increased solar activity.
