Biofluorescence reveals nature in a new light

The phenomenon of biofluorescence, which occurs when organisms absorb light and re-emit it at different wavelengths when it is shone by high-energy ultraviolet (UV) or blue light, has been observed in plants, animals, and insects. Nature guide David Atthowe, who leads night walks in Cumbria, first discovered the phenomenon through a TED talk. He has been experimenting with this phenomenon for three and half years.
