A suspected meteor over the Cleveland area caused a sonic boom that some residents compared to an explosion. The American Meteor Society reported seeing a bright fireball in the daytime sky, which was reported from Wisconsin to Maryland. The National Weather Service in Cleveland also heard the boom and felt vibrations, but no debris was found. The fireball traveled 34 miles through the upper atmosphere before fragmenting 30 miles over Valley City, Ohio, resulting in meteorites. A report from NASA's All-Sky Fireball Network described the event as caused by a small asteroid nearly 6 feet in diameter and weighing about 7 tons.
