The Rookie creator, Alexi Hawley, has revealed that there may be a cliffhanger at the end of the season of his show, which has been renewed by ABC for a ninth season. The remaining episodes of Season 8 include a true crime, mockumentary episode, and the final three episodes of season 8. Along with finishing Season 8, Hawley is working on spinoff The Rookie: North, which was completed and delivered to ABC, with the pilot receiving a tax credit. If the pilot is picked up, Hawleys could run both The Rookie and The Recruit next season as they are produced in different countries.
