The U.S. has already bombed over 90 targets on the island, including air defenses, a naval base, and mine storage facilities, according to Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. However, experts suggest that a ground attack on the Iranian island could risk a more dangerous situation. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the concerns. Kharg is a vital lifeline for Iran's economy as Iran pumps almost all of its crude production through underwater pipelines to Kharg. Despite this, Iran's parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagheraf, warned that his country was "closely monitoring" all troop deployments in the region, especially on X.
