Conservative Anglicans meeting in Nigeria say they seek continuity, not schism

The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), a group of conservative churches that refuse to accept a woman as the titular head of the worldwide Anglican Communion, has denied claims of a schism but said it aims to uphold continuity in the Church. GAFCON, which was formed in 2008, opposes liberal shifts in the Communion including the ordination of women and greater inclusion of LGBTQ+ members. A spokesman for GAFCon stated that the group was not seeking to break away from the Anglican communion but to "reorganise and realign" it around Biblical authority.
