Spanish startup Xoople has raised $130 million in a Series B to develop a satellite constellation to collect precise data for deep learning models. The company has also announced a deal with U.S. space and defense contractor L3Harris Technologies to begin building sensors for Xeople’s spacecraft. The firm's CEO and cofounder, Fabrizio Pirondini, described use cases for government agencies tracking transportation networks and damage from natural disasters, agribusiness monitoring crop health, or large firms monitoring infrastructure projects or supply chains. Xoope's focus on data quality is a key differentiator, with competitors including Vantor, Planet, BlackSky, and Airbus in Europe already operating satellites.
