Apple introduced its MacBook Neo as its most affordable notebook, starting at $599 with 256GB of storage and 8GB of unified memory. However, a YouTube teardown video shows how upgrading the MacBook Neo to 1TB requires skill in micro soldering, the ability to remove the chip, and disdain for Apple's warranty. The process involves replacing a soldered NAND flash chip on the logic board, which is not socketed like it is in the Mac mini or Mac Studio. The video does not show much testing or any additional firmware configuration. However it can be accessed through a special tool like hot-air rework equipment and microscopes.
