Minooka softball player Emma Best led the Minooka team to a 12-2 victory over Lincoln-Way Central in a nonconference game, despite initially not playing for herself in the first game of the season. Best, who had previously been a pitcher, hit a three-run homer in her first at-bat and then shut down the Knights over six innings, allowing three hits and striking out five. Despite not being able to hit, Best remained a strong hitter and managed to go 2 for 2 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk. The Indians also had five home runs on the day, with Addison Crumly and Olivia Boyd among the top three hitters.
