Rain and thunderstorms are expected daily in the Indianapolis area over the next week, with temperatures expected to warm up to the 60s and even 70s by Friday, March 6. The National Weather Service warns of a potential for heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding and drivers should use extreme caution. The heavy rainfall also brings a risk for localized flooding, which is another reason to monitor the weather closely. Residents should understand the difference between a flood watch, advisory and warning signs to stay safe. Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than any other thunderstorm related hazard, according to the NWS. Flooding deaths occur more frequently due to thunderstorm deaths than other types of weather hazards.
