Instagram is globally launching "Instants," a new feature for sharing authentic, disappearing photos that can only be viewed once and remain available for 24 hours. The feature borrows ideas from social platforms like Snapchat, Locket, and BeReal. Unlike Instagram's focus on curated content, Instants are designed for quick, real-life snapshots. Users capture an Instant by tapping the mini photo stack in the bottom right corner of their Instagram inbox and recipients can react with emojis, reply, and send an Instant back. Instants can be stored in a private archive for up to one year and can be compiled into a recap and post it to Instagram Stories. However, this move may not be as successful as BeReal as many users already use Instagram Stories for fast, informal updates.
