Apple has unveiled its new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are designed to power the new MacBook Pro. The chips are designed around the Fusion Architecture, which merges two dies into a single high-performance system on a chip. Both chips feature an 18-core CPU, an upgrade from the 14-core configuration in the M4 Pro and the 16-core in M4 Max. The CPU now features six “super cores’, a combination of these cores, alongside 12 new performance cores. The M5 pro supports 64GB of unified memory, up from 48GB on M4 pro, and its rival, M5Max, supports 128GB of total memory bandwidth. The new MacBook models are available for pre-order and availability will begin on March 11.
