The Kagoshima District Court has sentenced Hiroshi Hidaka, a 58-year-old unemployed man, to six years and 10 months in prison for defrauding three women, including his romantic partners, out of approximately 60 million yen. Hidak, who posed as a bank employee, was convicted of defraudting the women in a prolonged scam lasting from 2017 to 2022. The presiding judge of the court condemned Hidaki's actions, describing his methods as "clever and extremely malicious". The sentence fell short of the seven years sought by prosecutors but left victims unsatisfied.
