Max Fried has been named as the Yankees' Opening Day starter for the March 25 season opener against the Giants in San Francisco. This follows a successful year for the Yankees, where Fried filled the role as their ace last year due to Gerrit Cole's injury. This will be Fried's fifth career Opening Day nod. The decision was made after the team's 5-3 Grapefruit League loss to the Pirates. The start against Pittsburgh marked Fried's second of the spring, following an exhibition against Team Panama.
