Landon Ellis, a wide receiver for UCLA, expressed his excitement about joining the team from his former school, after spending a season with James Madison coach Bob Chesney at James Madison. Ellis, one of 10 players who made the cross-country journey alongside Chesney, offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy, defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler, and a handful of others, said it was his most enjoyable experience in football since he first picked up a football at age 5. Ellis also mentioned the LA lifestyle and the success of the College Football Playoff qualification as reasons for his decision to join the UCLA team. Despite the culture shift from northern Virginia, Ellis said the lifestyle of LA has its own benefits, including a lot of famous people and a lack of star-stopping activities. The Bruins' seventh spring practice saw several notable plays from wide receiver Brian Rowe, who ran for a touchdown of more than 40 yards.
