This has led to increased crowds and costs during these periods. Travel experts advise being flexible with dates, considering lesser-known locations, and booking in advance to find better value. Travel boards, hotel managers, and marketers have been pushing to turn seasonal destinations into year-round attractions. Only about 18% of U.S. travelers plan to visit Europe during the winter, dropping from 28% year-over-year, according to a survey by the European Travel Commission. Shorter "microcations" now cost $700 per night. Spain Less Traveled founder Karen Rosenblum noted that fall and spring are becoming increasingly popular and more crowded.
