Alabama's season ended in a disappointing 90-77 loss to No. 1 seed Michigan, with a dominant second-half flurry and a dominant rebounding effort, according to coach Nate Oats. The loss illustrates the gap between the elite and the second tier, where Alabama was weaker. Michigan outrebounded Alabama 25-12 and had a 20-10 advantage in points in the paint in the final 20 minutes. Oats attributed the loss to injuries to freshman big man Collins Onyejiaka and sophomore Tarleton State transfer Keitenn Bristow. Despite this, Oats acknowledged the need to bring in some size after James Nnaji was declared eligible for the G-League, and that Charles Bediako, who was ruled ineligible due to transfer issues, could have helped with the rebounding.
