CJ Evins, a co-defendant in a $20M fraud scheme involving two men from Georgia, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for his role in the scheme that involved impersonating professional athletes. The pair, who admitted to swindling millions in loans to buy real estate, jewelry, and cars, used fake documents, fake corporations, wigs, and makeup to convince lenders they were NFL players and used the proceeds to purchase real estate and luxury items. In April, Evins and Luther Davis pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Davis is scheduled to be sentenced in late October.
