Iran talks leave Trump with tough decisions

After President Trump left Pakistan without an agreement to end hostilities with Iran, Vice President Vance stated that the two sides were unable to reach a deal. This comes as 10 days remain in the ceasefire between the two parties. Vance argued that the U.S. needs an "affirmative commitment" that Iran will not seek a nuclear weapon and will not use the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve it. Meanwhile, President Trump acknowledged that the negotiations did not reach a consensus on Iran’s nuclear program. National Security Adviser John Bolton also stated that Iran is unwilling to negotiate restrictions on its own nuclear capabilities. The administration's "red lines" for Iran include ending all uranium enrichment, dismantling major nuclear enrichment facilities, accepting a broader peace, establishing a security and de-escalation framework with regional allies, and fully opening the Strait of Hormuz without charging tolls for passage.
