Immigrant advocates are taking legal action against the Trump administration over ICE activity at 26 Federal Plaza, claiming it restricts First Amendment activity. The complaint alleges that the public has been effectively excluded from being able to attend and observe ongoing legal cases at the courthouse. The plaintiffs argue that this violates the authority of masked ICE agents to place the courthouse at ground zero for detentions. They also argue that members of the public have been prevented from entering courtrooms since 2025, which they argue is illegal. The legal filing also suggests that ICE should not be allowed to carry out violent detentments due to the safety of the general public.
