Instacart has revealed that during Easter and Passover, the holiday season, the busiest period of spring, coincided with one of the busiest and most festive shopping periods of the spring season. Instacart tracked what customers added to their carts during Easter week (April 14-20, 2025) and the week leading up to Passover (April 7-13, 2025), to see how Americans celebrated. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs were the top-selling Easter candy nationwide for the fourth consecutive year in a row, ranking them as the most popular Easter candy. Jelly beans also surged 863% above their yearly average during the Easter week, marking a major candy spike. Gardening categories such as soil (up 128%), mulch (133%), annual plants (157%), and fertilizer (124%) also saw significant increases. Easter décor, including Easter baskets, grass, and plastic eggs, saw the highest sales during the holiday surge. However, not every state agreed with Reese’s, with 11 states opting for something else: Hershey's Milk Chocolate as their top candy. The biggest jelly bean fans were concentrated in the Upper Plains, Hawai'i and Maine, and Washington, D.C. saw a significant increase in jelly bean purchases.
