Sophie Cunningham booed by Portland fans as trans athlete controversy continues

Sophie Cunningham, a Fever star, was booed by fans during a game in Portland as fallout over her comments regarding trans athletes continues. Earlier this month, Cunningham made headlines for her statement that she wanted to protect young girls in a locker room or sports who shouldn't have to compete against biological men. The controversy escalated when a pair of young fans, wearing apparel from XX-XY Athletics and holding signs supporting Cunningham, were allegedly called "f–king insane" by Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton, who was suspended for five home games and fined an undisclosed amount by the WNBA. Activist Amy Sousa led a rally in support of Cunningham ahead of the Portland game, following a similar one before the Seattle matchup.
