Minnesota lawmakers still have time to tackle housing affordability

The Minnesota Legislature has an opportunity to address housing affordability, but this is quickly dwindling. The Minnesota Starter Home Act, designed to address the state's housing shortage, has been left languishing in a committee hearing. The act would allow for more home types and reduce prices. It also addresses the price of land, allowing for smaller lots or sharing the cost of land across multiple families. The bill is supported by over 40 organizations across the state, who believe it is a common-sense approach that legislators and voters across the political spectrum can agree on.
