Hegseth's wartime firing of top generals stun officials: "It's insane"

The ousting of Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and Army Gen. David Hodne has raised concerns among defense officials about the implications for the Iran war and the adoption of new tech and tactics. The dismissal was caused by disagreements over the Army's direction, according to two U.S. officials. Hodne was recently put in charge of Transformation and Training Command (T2COM), which George helped lead. The firings come with elements of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division heading for the Middle East and the Army is responsible for integrated air-and-missile defenses. The abrupt exits have reshaped the Joint Chiefs of Staff, intel-collecting agencies, and combatant commands.
