New Bedford Symphony Orchestra to blend new music with Beethoven

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is set to present "A Joyous Sound" at The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center on May 16 at 730 p.m. The concert will feature a blend of new music and one of the most celebrated symphonies ever written. The opening performance will be performed by Pedro da Silva, a New Bedford native now based in New York City, with what is expected to be the first concerto ever written for Portuguese guitar and orchestra. The program will also feature Ludwig van Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 9," a work of extraordinary scale and impact. Pre-concert offerings include a pre-concert chat with Yaniv Dinur, a free open rehearsal in the Zeeterion auditorium, and a dinner at The Z.
