The final performance of 3Below Theaters in downtown San Jose, California, is set to end after eight years with the 200-seat auditorium at the venue being empty. Starting tonight, a cast of 15 actors will fill the spaces for the final five performances of "The Bardy Bunch," a Shakespearean-style mashup of “The Brady Bunch” featuring the two characters from "The Partridge Family” and "The Sound of Music." The venue's last screen will also be removed, marking the end of an eight-year run at 3 Below. The venue, owned by Scott Guggenheim and his brother, actor Stephen, had high hopes for 3 Below when they opened in 2018, but were forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic two years later. However, after reopening in 2020, they were unable to keep up with expenses and trying to lure audiences back with movies about social issues, classic movie anniversaries, and membership deals. The last remaining screen devoted to first-run movies will be removed. The final performance will be held on Sunday, May 2 through May 3, with a liquidation sale for all of its props, set pieces, and equipment, including seats from one of its theaters.
