‘Ongoing problem’: Boarded-up NLV casino property draws homeless people

The boarded-up Silver Nugget casino in North Las Vegas has been attracting homeless people to the property. The property, a staple of the city for decades, is now a blighted property with its main sign vandalized and boarded up. Homeless people have been living in an encampment under the building, which was deemed most disturbing by a homeless-services manager with the city. The city has not received any notice from the Silver Nugge or any demolition permit applications for the property, according to a spokeswoman. The Silver Nugger operator, Fifth Street Gaming, has not responded to multiple requests for comment.
