Mayo Clinic's record $1.47 billion profit in 2025 has left mixed feelings in the wake of closures of clinics and services in small towns across southern Minnesota. The medical system closed clinics and cut services in several cities across the state last fall, with some communities still seeking replacement services. The record 2025 earnings are causing some people to feel sickened, with Terry Gjersvik, a farmer in rural Albert Lea, asking why are services being withdrawn in his community being withdrawn.
