The island of Crete was covered in an eerie red veil by a powerful sand storm that swept across the country on April 1, causing it to turn into a nightmare. The storm, which moved from the Sahara to Spain, disrupted transport routes and disrupted air quality across the region. The World Meteorological Organization reported that the storm also extended eastward and passed over southern Greek islands, Libya, and Egypt.
