The Highway 82 wildfire in Brantley County, Georgia, has doubled in 24 hours to 22,600 acres and is currently 6 percent contained. It has expanded into neighboring Wayne County, forcing evacuations. The Pineland Road fire, estimated at 32,331 acres, is 10 percent contained and has destroyed over 120 homes. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp described the two fires as the two worst wildfires currently in the US. Both fires rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the country. There is a Voluntary Evacuation for several areas including Highway 32 East of Needmore Road, Highway 301 up to Ed Harrell Road, and Old Post.
