1966 blizzard provided 'North Dakota's most famous photo'

The iconic photo, taken by North Dakota Department of Transportation worker Ernie Feland and co-worker Bill Koch, depicts a man standing atop a snow drift nearly as tall as a utility pole. The photo predates Artificial Intelligence, but there are several caveats about its authenticity. The storm, known as "The Blizzard of 1966," occurred a month after a deadly snowstorm in the Northeast U.S. The snowstorm was caused by over 3 feet of snow and 70-mph winds, creating drifts 30-40 feet tall.
