The University of Texas is set to introduce a Digital ID Program in the 2027-28 Academic Year, allowing students to access campus buildings, check out library books, and perform tasks that currently require a physical ID card. The initiative was pushed forward by the University of Houston's Student Government President, and Vice President, respectively. The new digital IDs will be available on Apple and Android wallets. The move is expected to result in less lost ID fees for students and reduced expenses for the university.
