The TDT Task Force should not be distracted by flashy projects funded by the tourist tax, but instead by supporting local infrastructure that benefits Orange County. This includes transit systems and affordable housing for tourism industry workers. The Florida Division of Emergency Management spent over 60% of its budget in the 2025-2026 fiscal year on immigration enforcement operations and detention centers, more than the agency spent on all of its 2025 emergency missions combined. Critics argue that this is a symptom of an authoritarian agenda prioritizing corporate donors over public welfare. Florida Rising has endorsed candidates for the U.S. Senate, 7th Congressional District, Anthony Nieves for Florida House District 47 and Samuel Vilchez Santiago for Florida State House District 43.
